Object Identification

Physical objects being tracked (individual items and batches) need to be identified throughout the supply chain.

Security seals are used to identify livestock, barns, containers, pallets, transportation vehicles, boxes, etc.
To provide appropriate historical food data to consumers, food producers always face the challenge of product serial registration: printing sequential QR codes at the item or batch level on retail products and linking the serial number to the historical data of that item/batch.
Data Collection
Capturing an ID of a batch, attaching event information to the ID (even beyond the basic questions of What, When, Where, Why), and connecting these IDs throughout the supply chain is essential for maintaining the integrity of information.
If supply chain companies lack such capabilities or do not collect the necessary data, they can use our B2B mobile application, which allows for a quick and efficient way to gather information about their events (through forms, photos, and videos).
In cases where supply chain companies have local legacy systems (ERP, farm management), they can use our API or send event data as an Excel file. Our interfaces can accept GS1 EPCIS format as input, and we can also provide it as output.

Data Storage

Blockchain is a distributed, immutable ledger that is secure for storing any type of data and business logic.

BLOCKCHAINFARM FoodChain is a secure and scalable solution for storing all traceability data in a decentralized, permissioned manner.
FoodChain is among the top 15 blockchains by daily active volume, containing the history of millions of food products worldwide.

Data Processing

Typically, companies need to process data to enable them or their suppliers to comply with custom protocols. These protocols allow the supply chain to control events rather than just monitor them. For example:

A system notifies farmers that they cannot harvest within X weeks after pesticide application.

A retailer cannot receive shipments of fresh produce if the harvest date is before a certain number of days.

A food processing company should not ship more products than they have received.

There can be many similar custom control points embedded in processes.

The product recall process is another data processing feature, helping to identify the source of contaminated products, as well as identifying the holding facility for products from the same source and contacting them to remove affected products.
